Quality Assurance Technician

Role Objective / Purpose
To ensure the safety and quality of all products through documented examination, verification, and continuous improvement of processes, activities, and records.

Working Hours - 8am until 4pm - 3 weeks , 1 week 5am until 2pm- occasional overtime available.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and quality of all products by implementing Food Safety & Quality Assurance systems.

  • Work effectively as part of both the QA and Production teams.

  • Carry out QA and QC checks across all areas of the production chain, including temperature, specification, weight, traceability, calibration, cleaning, and tasting checks.

  • Monitor and control Food Safety critical points identified via the HACCP system.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures relating to Food Safety and Quality.

  • Support and monitor staff training in areas such as Basic Food Hygiene, HACCP awareness, GMP, Health & Safety, and general induction.

  • Liaise with Production regarding quality or food safety issues.

  • Investigate and respond to customer complaints and process issues, ensuring corrective actions are taken.

  • Monitor and investigate customer returns, providing analysis and feedback to relevant teams.

  • Maintain certification schemes such as BRC and Red Tractor.

  • Assist with customer visits, audits, and approvals, ensuring professional representation.

  • Monitor hygiene standards and take corrective action where required.

  • Participate in product tasting panels and complaint investigations.

  • Keep the QA/Technical Manager fully informed of key issues and developments.

  • Contribute to new initiatives aimed at improving standards and processes.

  • Adhere to all legal and statutory obligations relating to the role.

  • Demonstrate company values and support business initiatives.

  • Take responsibility for personal Health & Safety and that of others.

  • Engage in continuous professional development and training.


Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • GCSEs/A-Levels with minimum 1 year experience, or a relevant Degree.

  • Food Safety and Quality Systems training desirable.

  • Food manufacturing and BRC systems experience preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.

  • Self-motivated, resilient, and able to work under pressure.

  • IT literate with good communication and teamwork skills.
