Construction Contracts Manager

Location: Thurmaston, Leicester
Salary: £60-£65k DOE
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Construction Contracts Manager to join a well-established and growing construction business. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and commercially aware professional to take ownership of multiple projects from tender through to successful handover.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will oversee multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors and clients, playing a key leadership role across operational, commercial and compliance aspects of each project.

 

Key Responsibilities

Tendering

  • Assist with the preparation of tender programmes, logistics plans and supporting documentation

  • Participate in tender adjudications

  • Support client interviews where required

Operations

  • Chair and attend Pre-Start Meetings

  • Develop, implement and maintain company SHEQ and project procedures

  • Maintain full awareness of project scope and any variations

  • Manage and support Site Managers across multiple sites

  • Chair weekly progress meetings with trades

  • Place purchase orders and sign off contractor/supplier invoices

  • Set up site filing systems, including all H&S documentation

  • Prepare and monitor construction programmes

  • Ensure all new sites comply with HSE guidelines and company SHEQ policies

  • Conduct and record site inspections to ensure procedural compliance

  • Monitor quality on site and liaise with subcontractors to rectify defects

  • Produce weekly and monthly progress reports

  • Attend client project meetings

  • Lead project handovers, including delivery of Operation & Maintenance manuals

  • Provide proactive solutions to on-site issues

Commercial

  • Assist in setting up subcontract orders

  • Report project variations and contra charges to the Quantity Surveyor

  • Support the QS in finalising upstream and downstream final accounts

 

About You

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the construction industry

  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ procedures and HSE compliance

  • Experience managing multiple sites and project teams

  • Commercially aware with experience supporting final accounts

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and MS Project

  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving ability

  • AutoCAD (desirable)
