The weekend has crept up on us once again. That means it’s time for some quickfire questions with another business leader from across our region. This week, we chatted with Mandy Watson, Director of Ambitions Personnel, based in the East of England.

What is the first thing you do to get the weekend started?

What used to be an early morning cycle ride before breakfast at the weekends has now been replaced with taking my twin grandchildren out for a walk, allowing their parents that essential lay in!

What is your hobby?

My son opened his own gym and has converted me to being a regular attendee. I cannot honestly say I overly ‘enjoy’ it but I do like the feeling of accomplishment each time I walk out the door at the end of each session.

What is your favourite movie?

It’s a bit of a cliché I know, but I do like a good romcom.  I love the ‘feelgood factor’ they bring. My favourites are Love Actually, The Intern and the Bridget Jones films. However, a film that will last with me always is ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’.

If you hadn’t been successful at what you do, what would you be doing instead as a career?

My colleagues may not be surprised to hear that my school careers officer agreed that I would make an excellent police officer or PE teacher.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

I’d love to be able to fly! I’d like to travel more and experience different cultures. If I could fly I could say goodbye to busy airports, it’s the part I hate the most about any trips abroad.

What is your favourite genre of music?

Anything by Rod Stewart, Chris Martin or The Killers. My cycling playlist includes many different genres, even a blast of ‘Rule Brittania’ to spur me on for that last impossible hill climb!

If you could travel to any moment in time where would you go?

I would probably like to go back to my school days. I loved school, playing sports and being outside with my friends. Being part of a large family and living a life without the trappings of today’s more pressured society would be nice to experience again.
