Job Role: Shift Engineer
Salary: £38,766 + £1/hr Attendance Bonus – £40,950 Total
Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off (2 days / 2 nights)
Qualifications: Engineering qualifications essential (ideally Electrical)
Experience Needed: Multi-Skilled – Electrical knowledge essential
Pay Frequency: Weekly

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Shift Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is a key role responsible for maintaining plant equipment, minimising downtime, and ensuring production runs safely and efficiently.

Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will play a vital role in supporting production through both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown response.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules
  • Respond quickly and effectively to plant and production breakdowns
  • Diagnose faults and implement timely repairs to minimise downtime
  • Support production teams with engineering-related issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Assist in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Ensure efficient use of spare parts and consumables

Health & Safety

  • Follow all safe working procedures at all times
  • Ensure correct PPE is worn and safety standards are maintained
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture and report any concerns
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the site

Communication & Teamwork

  • Deliver clear and effective shift handovers
  • Complete and submit detailed shift reports
  • Communicate effectively with production, supervisors, and management
  • Highlight any ongoing issues, risks, or spare parts requirements

About You

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads
  • Proactive, reliable, and a strong team player
  • Good communication skills across all levels of the business
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (preferred but not essential)
