The Food Preparation Area Manager will oversee the food preparation team, who supply and work alongside production, and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the area with reference to food quality, hygiene, and safety in line with company policy.

Full time – 06:00 to 15:00 5 days per week to include every Sunday

 

£35k salary per annum + Profit related bonus

 

Job Purpose:

As the Food Preparation Area Manager, you’ll lead the preparation area to achieve key indicators including safety, quality, people, delivery, cost and environment. You’ll work closely with factory floor colleagues as well as key teams such as Production and Quality, to ensure your area operates efficiently and effectively.

The General Responsibilities will include:

  • Run department to maximize operational efficiency and productivity
  • Manage the team to complete the following:
    • Food preparation work, to provide production lines with ingredients as required
    • Have morning preparation organized and ready for the day’s volume
    • Keep all food in airtight containers/packaging during the day and at the end.
    • Making sure all ingredients are dated and rotated by use by date
    • Follow specific recipe mixtures and measures to make the successful, recognisable products
    • Accurate weighing of ingredients
    • Responsible for achieving performance KPI's such as efficiency and waste management
    • Ensure optimum utilisation of shift labour by effective labour planning, training & development of all staff
    • Working closely with the team to ensure the preparation room operates with a safety-first mentality
    • Ensuring excellent communication between the preparation room and production
    • Accurate completion of all paperwork and reporting of area performance and KPI's
    • Create a positive team dynamic and push the importance of engagement across the site.
    • Be the point of escalation and support for all staff on shift
    • Lead and motivate all preparation staff to care about our product and our customers

Skills:

  • Effective problem solving, with solutions focus and strong food preparation knowledge
  • KPI and results driven
  • Strong understanding of health and safety and its application in a food preparation and food production environment.
  • Used to working in a high pressure, fast paced, and constantly changing environment.
  • Understanding of operational reporting, key information identification and critical issue escalation.
  • Excellent people skills and be passionate about achieving results through people.
  • Great communication skills and decision-making capabilities. Logical approach to making decisions, promoting the customer comes first mindset.
  • Managing projects and delivering within set time scales
  • Experience within an FMCG or food kitchen management background is preferable
  • Positive attitude and a professional approach
  • Energy, enthusiasm, commitment, and a can-do flexible attitude
