Project Design Manager

Due to continued success and expansion they are looking to recruit a new Project Design Manager to join the Engineering Team and support the Technical Director.

 

Job Purpose:                                                    

To manage all aspects of design related projects to ensure they are brought in on time.

To ensure all design projects are reviewed and where possible designed with circularity / tooling / production processes in mind.

To manage Designers Day to day.

To contribute as a designer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To comply with all Health and Safety at Work requirements as determined by company policy.

  1. Manage design projects ensuring products are designed to the correct standards e.g EN / BIFMA etc.
  2. Manage design project lead times to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
  3. Manage the Design team holding annual reviews.
  4. Liaising with all key stakeholders and representing RGE to external customers with projects and designs.
  5. Carry out regular project reviews and updates internally.
  6. To hold and minute a bi weekly design meeting.
  7. Organise and participate in engineering technical reviews with customers
  8. Delegate purchasing tasks when required on samples for design projects.
  9. Be the design project focal point.
  10. To design components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  11. To help advise designers on designs / design for tooling / design for manufacturing.
  12. Work with tooling and production to ensure components are designed in the most efficient way for quality and cycle times.
  13. Support customer new tooling design and development projects alongside sales, tooling and design departments.
  14. Attend tool trials as and when needed.
  15. Undertake any other duties as necessary to fulfil the needs of the job and its objectives as and when requested by your line manager.
  16. To work from any of the sites as and when needed as agreed with direct manager.
  17. To be based at Alconbury.

The candidate:

You will be an experienced and time served Project Design Manager. Someone who is able to manage a diverse workload and fulfill the expectations of clients both internal and external.

You will be efficient in your planning and costings and able to set and meet KPIs to keep on top of design projects.

You will have an expectation to look for areas of innovation and continuous improvement.
