️ Design and Development Engineer – From £40,000+ DOE – Permanent Role

Job Type: Full-time | Permanent
Salary: Starting from £40,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break)


Job Summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering company for a skilled Tooling Design and Development Engineer to join their growing team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support new tooling projects, provide technical expertise to the toolroom, and collaborate with international teams — including working closely with overseas toolmakers to ensure effective tooling design and development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support all new tooling projects and provide technical support for the toolroom
  • Develop General Arrangements (GAs) and 3D models, ensuring compliance with company standards
  • Collaborate closely with Chinese toolmakers and other international partners to deliver robust tool designs
  • Participate in customer conference calls and meetings to develop product and tooling files
  • Attend internal and external meetings relating to current and future projects (including worldwide)
  • Provide tooling modification quotations and manage external tooling work
  • Advise internal and external design departments on optimal tooling requirements
  • Conduct mould flow analysis assessments to support process development
  • Attend tool trials in the UK and overseas (optional)
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations (HASAW Act 1974)
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Head of Engineering

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in tooling design and development within manufacturing or engineering environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of tooling, mould flow analysis, and CAD modelling
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with international teams
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Willingness to travel internationally for tool trials (optional)
