️ Design and Development Engineer – From £40,000+ DOE – Permanent Role

Salary: Starting from £40,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
Job Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering company for a skilled Tooling Design and Development Engineer to join their growing team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to support new tooling projects, provide technical expertise to the toolroom, and collaborate with international teams — including working closely with overseas toolmakers to ensure effective tooling design and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all new tooling projects and provide technical support for the toolroom
- Develop General Arrangements (GAs) and 3D models, ensuring compliance with company standards
- Collaborate closely with Chinese toolmakers and other international partners to deliver robust tool designs
- Participate in customer conference calls and meetings to develop product and tooling files
- Attend internal and external meetings relating to current and future projects (including worldwide)
- Provide tooling modification quotations and manage external tooling work
- Advise internal and external design departments on optimal tooling requirements
- Conduct mould flow analysis assessments to support process development
- Attend tool trials in the UK and overseas (optional)
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations (HASAW Act 1974)
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Head of Engineering
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in tooling design and development within manufacturing or engineering environments
- Strong technical knowledge of tooling, mould flow analysis, and CAD modelling
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with international teams
- Proactive and able to manage multiple projects effectively
- Willingness to travel internationally for tool trials (optional)
