CNC/Milling Machine Operative
Location: Newark
Working Hours: Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: £17.00ph - £20.00ph Depending on Experience

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Milling Machine Operative to join our clients growing production team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with industry-leading equipment in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment.

As a Milling Operative, you’ll be responsible for producing precision-engineered components using manual and/or CNC milling machines. Your attention to detail and ability to read and interpret technical drawings will play a crucial role in delivering top-quality parts for a variety of industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate milling machines (manual and/or CNC) to produce precision components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform in-process inspection using measuring tools (e.g. micrometers, verniers, gauges).
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work area.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards throughout the production process.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams to ensure production goals are met.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a milling/machining environment (CNC or manual).
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and machining tolerances.
  • Experience with measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work.
  • Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with CNC programming
  • NVQ or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Machining.
  • Experience working in a high-precision or ISO-certified environment.
