HGV Class 1 RoRo Driver (Wagon & Drag)

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and professional HGV Class 1 RoRo Driver (Wagon & Drag) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out scheduled deliveries and collections safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK transport legislation and company procedures.

This role requires a hands-on approach, with some physical duties and varying working conditions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a lorry and drag (wagon & drag) Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) vehicle in accordance with UK road laws and company policies.

  • Complete scheduled deliveries and collections of RoRo skips in a professional and timely manner.

  • Carry out daily vehicle walk-around checks, reporting defects immediately and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and basic maintenance.

  • Change tyres within the yard when required, following company safety procedures.

  • Safely secure loads and correctly couple/uncouple the drag unit.

  • Accurately complete all delivery and transport documentation.

  • Comply fully with tachograph regulations, including taking mandatory 45-minute breaks at legal driving limits.

  • Follow all Health & Safety requirements, Driver CPC standards, and Working Time Directive regulations.

  • Maintain excellent communication and customer service at all delivery and collection points.

  • Be prepared for physical and occasionally dirty work in varying conditions.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid HGV Class 1 licence (essential for wagon & drag operation).

  • Up-to-date Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.

  • Previous wagon & drag experience preferred (training may be provided).

  • Ability to safely change tyres in the yard when necessary.

  • Strong understanding of UK transport legislation and road networks.

  • Good communication skills, punctuality, and strong safety awareness.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience in load securing and manual handling.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Additional licences such as ADR or Forklift (advantageous but not essential).


Pay & Benefits

  • £14.75 – £16.00 per hour, depending on experience.
