Our client, a UK leader in their industry is currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their Accounts team at Witham St Hughs on a short 3-6 month fixed term contract.

Working within a large and established team that supports the whole of the client business, this role plays a critical part in the reconciliation of the company’s accounts. The successful applicant will also have responsibility for day to day treasury functions in addition to providing assistance in general accounting and reporting to support the Finance Team.

The successful candidate will ideally have had some experience of working in an accounts department, be well organised, accurate and have an eye for detail.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Treasury

Reconciliation of the Company’s bank accounts from the general ledger to the bank statement.

Logging funds received.

Liaising with the Accounts Payable & Receivable teams regarding bank transactions.

Monitoring and managing bank transactions including bank charges, interest, bank guarantees and direct debits.

Reconciliation and reporting of the Company’s foreign exchange position.

Forecasting and reporting on the Company’s cash position to enable funding decisions.

Accounting Support

Reconciliation of the Company’s futures position from broker statements to general ledger.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

Ad-hoc work on projects and general support of the accounting team, to include coding of supplier invoices and payment run approvals.

Requirements:

Possess a confident and professional manner with strong telephone and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to those with a non-finance background.

The ability to produce accurate work with a high attention to detail.

PC literate with experience of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel.

Previous experience in an accounting environment is essential.

Treasury experience in particular is desirable.

Experience in foreign currency transactions would be advantageous.

Self-motivated, conscientious individual.
