Public Protection Manager | Grantham | 3 month FTC | £451.00 - £500.99 per day

 

37 hours per week - Some flexibility in the working hours will be required from time to time

As the Public Protection Manager you will be responsible for the operational management of the Public Protection Service. You will be leading to ensure the protection of individuals and the community from harm, aiding the local economy, protecting health and wellbeing and bettering the quality of the environment. 

You will be the direct line manager and will provide professional support to a team of four team leaders, covering Licensing, Food and Health and Safety, Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing, and Neighbourhoods functions.

 

Responsibilities & Outcomes:

  • Ensure the services are delivered in line with all statutory and legal requirements
  • Maintain a high level of professional competence, knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legal practices
  • Support and advise on relevant matters
  • Develop and organise the implementation of strategies and policies
  • Lead and deliver key projects, ensuring objectives are met on time
  • Being accountable for results and maintaining high standards and professionalism
  • Take responsibility for the Service Plan's preparation, implementation, and effective delivery
  • Manage budgets according to the financial laws and regulations, and maximise revenue-generating options
  • Ensure that regular one-on-one meetings with employees are scheduled and that annual appraisals are completed
  • Provide operational support to the corporate health and safety function
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships and effective partnerships with a variety of services and agencies
  • Collaborate with relevant partners to provide flood-related advice and to aid in the development of broader policy
  • Produce agreed-upon and ad hoc management data/reporting, as well as statutory reporting
  • Deputise for the Assistant Director as required
  • Participate in the out of hour’s service dealing with an extensive range of issues
  • Work together with other managers and senior managers across all service clusters
  • Establish and maintain strong working connections with all areas of the business, as well as external organisations as needed
  • Ensure that direct reports are aware of their responsibilities, and the importance of cross-functional collaboration within the business
  • Lead and manage your team effectively
  • Be accountable for all allocated budgets
  • Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed and monitored
  • Be aware of the companies strategies and policies, and follow them
  • Designated resources may be released to assist with corporate projects in order to meet deadlines
  • Manage company projects as needed to meet established operational or priority objectives
  • Ensure that all business sectors have a commercially beneficial business plan in place
  • Understand the companies’ commercial priorities
  • Guarantee that resources are aligned with organisational outcomes and essential business objectives
  • Identify and implement best-practice working methods to raise performance to agreed-upon levels in a cost-effective manner
  • Provide professional/technical support to the team and the business
  • You must have the legal authority to work in the UK
