Housing & Prevention Officer - Grantham

Temporary, 4 weeks 

£15.00 - £19.99 per hour, dependent on experience

Our client based in Grantham is looking for a Housing & Prevention Officer to join their busy team on a temporary basis for around 4 weeks. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced environment where you can develop and utilise your current skillset. 

You will be responsible for; 

  • Ensure the provision of timely and appropriate first stage and ongoing housing advice is provided to all service users
  • Assist applicants with completing applications and providing guidance for interviews
  • Preparing case files for review hearings 
  • Dealing with enquiries and providing appropriate advice
  • Work closely with colleagues across the business in order to effectively manage any complaints
  • Processing of reports, updating spreadsheets and general administrative duties to support the team as required, to ensure the effective running of the service
  • Contribute to activities and initiatives which support the prevention and detection of housing fraud
  • Fully investigate and assess all homelessness claims and where possible taking action to prevent homelessness
  • Maintain links with other local authorities and agencies
  • Develop relationships with private landlords, making use of private sector initiatives i.e. Rent Deposit Scheme
  • Manage and organise own caseload, ensuring all records are up to date and accurate at all times
  • Attend partnership meetings in relation to homelessness customers when required
  • Liaise with a range of internal and external agencies including support services in relation to homelessness prevention based activities etc.
  • Identify and report any concerns relating to Safeguarding; both in relation to vulnerable adults and in promoting the welfare of children and young people

The ideal candidate will have; 

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills, via telephone, email and face to face
  • Strong administration skills
  • The ability to comfortable use all Microsoft Packages and pick up new systems quickly
  • Flexible with working hours when necessary 
  • The ability to efficiently manage their own workload and adhere to strict deadlines, practices and standards
