Engineering Stores Controller
Location:Whittlesey
Salary: £30,000 - 40,000 pa
Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours per week
Our client, a respected leader in the Recycling sector, is currently looking for an experienced Engineering Stores Controller to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and safety-focused individual to play a key role in managing the engineering stores while also supporting contractor management on site. The role is split approximately 90% stores control and 10% contractor management.
The Role:

Oversee the smooth running of the engineering stores, ensuring efficient stock control and material availability.

Receive, inspect, log, and issue engineering parts, spares, and consumables.

Maintain accurate stock levels using Shire CMS or a similar Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Conduct stock checks, audits, and manage re-order levels to prevent shortages.

Liaise with procurement, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely supply of materials.

Ensure the stores area is compliant with health & safety regulations and maintained to a high standard.

Assist with the management of external contractors on site including checking permits to work, RAMS, and ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Act as a point of contact for contractor coordination alongside the site team.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✅ Proven experience in an engineering stores or inventory control role.
✅ Experience using Shire CMS or a similar CMMS.
✅ IOSH Managing Safely qualification (useful).
✅ Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
✅ Solid understanding of stock control processes and supply chain.
✅ Exposure to contractor management or site coordination.
✅ Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Desirable:
➕ Forklift licence (or willingness to train).
➕ Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components.
➕ Familiarity with continuous improvement (5S, lean manufacturing) would be beneficial.
