Domestic Waste Technician
Peterborough | £27,500 equivalent | 40 hours per week (flexible between 7am–6pm)
12-week temporary contract | Field-based role

I’m recruiting for a Domestic Waste Technician to support safe, compliant waste handling across multiple sites in the Peterborough region. This is a mobile, field-based role ideal for someone with operational experience, strong problem-solving skills and a full driving licence.
What you’ll be doing
- Travelling across local sites to oversee domestic waste operations
- Completing site checks, basic troubleshooting and ensuring safe working areas
- Sampling and assessing waste to ensure environmental compliance
- Maintaining excellent health & safety, environmental and quality standards
- Providing friendly support and guidance to customers, tanker drivers and site teams
- Keeping accurate records and reporting any issues promptly
What we’re looking for
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Based in or around Peterborough
- Comfortable working outdoors and in operational / industrial environments
- Strong communicator with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Flexible working approach between 7am–6pm
- Experience in waste, environmental services, water treatment, utilities or similar (desirable)
- Knowledge of wastewater, sewage regulations or environmental compliance (bonus)
