Assembly Line Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Assembly Line Manager to lead this busy assembly operation in Grantham. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of production, people, and processes, ensuring high-quality products are delivered safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key part in driving continuous improvement across the line, motivating your team, and supporting a culture of excellence.

What You’ll Do

Production & Operations

  • Manage daily assembly line operations to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Organise labour, materials, and equipment for smooth workflow.
  • Track performance against KPIs and take action where needed.

People Management

  • Lead and develop assembly line supervisors and operatives.
  • Ensure teams are trained, motivated, and fully resourced.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage attendance, and support a positive team culture.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet quality standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Work with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve defects.
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with ISO and internal procedures.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Take responsibility for safety on the assembly line.
  • Maintain compliance with HSE regulations and safe working practices.
  • Identify hazards and implement preventative measures.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead lean initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Solve problems using root cause analysis tools.
  • Support the introduction of new products, processes, and equipment.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide regular production updates to senior management.
  • Liaise with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, and Logistics teams.
  • Highlight risks and recommend solutions based on clear data.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience managing teams in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly line operations and production planning.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing, automotive, fabrication
  • IOSH or similar health & safety qualification.
  • Experience with ERP or production planning systems.
