Housing Officer | Grantham | 3 month FTC | £19.99 per hour

 

37 hours per week - Some flexibility in the working hours will be required from time to time

 

Do you have a passion for delivering excellent housing and tenancy management services?

Our client based in Grantham is looking for a Housing Officer to join their busy team. You will be working with agency partners to ensure service users receive an excellent housing and tenancy service, and that tenants comply with their tenancy conditions.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage housing and tenancy-related issues, including troubleshooting, completing agreed-upon duties, giving appropriate signposting, and ensuring the delivery of other services
  • Manage and coordinate all forms of tenancies (or leases) within a given area, taking ownership of customer issues and collaborating closely with colleagues
  • Conduct accompanied viewings and new tenant ‘sign-ups'
  • Take prompt action to identify and correct tenancy violations
  • Ensure that new renters are signed up and that they are assisted in applying for suitable benefits such as Housing Benefit or Universal Credit
  • Organise applications for tenancy successions, assignments, and mutual exchanges
  • Respond to and investigate issues of anti-social behaviour
  • Support the caretaking activities' direction and collaborate with the Grounds Maintenance Officer to improve the environment
  • Encourage, promote, and facilitate tenant, consumer, and resident interaction, feedback, and participation
  • Assist residents, whether as individuals or as community groups, in accessing relevant services
  • Identify and report any concerns about Safeguarding
  • Ensure that performance fulfils a variety of KPIs
  • Contribute to the processes and working practises that will help improve services
  • Provide direction to Housing Assistants

Candidate requirements:

  • Confident exchanging sensitive information with a range of people, both orally and in writing
  • Communicates effectively; able to deal with differing points of view
  • Uses a rational and disciplined approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people including vulnerable customers
  • Makes effective decisions as to when, how and why duties are to be carried out
  • Analyses and interprets complex information to solve difficult problems or to develop new ideas or concepts
  • Produces medium-term solutions or plans
  • Able to communicate complex messages in a simple and empathetic way to customers
  • A good general education standard (A level or equivalent)
  • Qualified, working toward, or willing to work toward Chartered Institute of Housing Membership
  • Working with members of the public, a thorough awareness of customer service expectations
  • Experience of Housing IT systems
  • Knowledge of Adult and Children’s safeguarding and Health & Safety
  • Able to prioritise own workload
  • Experience of possession proceedings up to and including attending Court
  • Experience dealing with cases relating to Anti-Social behaviour
  • Experience of assisting residents to access welfare benefits
  • Full driving license and access to own vehicle
  • You must have the legal authority to work in the UK
