I’m sure you will have your own idea of what working in a call centre is like, whether you’ve worked in one or not.

Of course, most of your opinions will be based on horror stories passed on from friends of friends; tall tales of disgruntled customers and unachievable selling targets.

But, what is it actually like to work in a contact centre, stripped of all the exaggeration and rumour?

What it really comes down to is communication, talking to people from every economic background and walk of life.

Behind the negative stereotype there’s a secret satisfaction for all the staff that work at this call centre based in Oakham, what it is? Maybe it’s the onsite restaurant, the free gym and swimming pool membership, the free car parking, 50% off full priced items and a reduced staff store. This is what you will have access to!

Of Course, every job has a downside, and call centre work is no exception. Many call centre horror stories feature angry customers venting frustration at faulty products or bad service. In reality, such calls are in a minority, and complaints department staff are specially trained in how to deal with problems.

Call centre work is communication, and talking to a diverse range of people can be incredibly satisfying. Whether it’s a great group of colleagues, or the chance to have friendly conversations with customers all day, every day, ultimately its people that make a workplace into more than just somewhere to grind out a living.

The mixture of people you will work with may turn into long lasting friends as most of the people at this business have been there over 10 years, but why? Because they are the nicest business (and I’m not just saying that) PLUS they’re great at training new people, just like you that’s coming to join the Customer Service team.
