Commercial Account Handler

A very successful, highly recognised insurance broker in Colchester is seeking an experienced Commercial Account Handler.

The chosen candidate must have a successful and proven track record working within an established commercial insurance brokerage. 

This is a hard working professional office where clients come first.  We are looking for a committed professional broker who wishes to work for a company who believes in service and integrity.

The role:

You will be a member of the corporate client team managing a portfolio of commercial clients with an annual premium value of £850,000

The classes of business will include but not be limited to Property, Public and Employers’ Liability, Business Interruption, Professional Indemnity, Directors’ & Officers Liability, Cyber, Commercial Fleet, Engineering, Marine Cargo, Personal Accident and Travel, Legal Expenses

Responsible for management of your own account

  • Process renewals and mid-term adjustments
  • Take ownership of your own annual business plan
  • Achieve group targets which are focused on service and retention
  • Meet clients face to face
  • Present clients surveys and pre renewal/renewal presentations
  • Build report/relationships with clients and insurers

There is a good team spirit and the candidate would be working alongside experienced professional colleagues with whom we encourage support and the sharing of technical knowledge.   

The renewal process is thorough and detailed; the accounts are spread throughout the year to enable this process.  There is a dedicated in-house claims team who will deal directly with clients on claims matters.

The person:

You must have self-motivation, a ‘can do’ attitude and the desire to constantly achieve to deliver the highest level of service to clients.   

You must be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas: 

  • Must have previous commercial insurance experience
  • Must have CII qualification or willing to work towards it
  • Must have attained a minimum of 6 GCSE’s or equivalent, with English and Maths at Grade A-C
  • Strong working knowledge of a broad spectrum of Commercial Insurance classes 
  • Able to manage and develop a portfolio of key clients
  • Ability to conduct and control client meetings
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Rapport building
  • Customer service
  • Analytical mind and the ability to interpret figures/statistics
  • Must be able to work long/flexible hours on occasions to ensure that current high standards of Client service are maintained
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet Clients, and also attend training which could be provided outside of the Colchester office
